Heritability and causality of QRS duration and chronic heart failure risk

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 3018-3027, August 2025.
Methodological framework used to investigate the heritability using linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) and causal relationship between QRS duration (exposure) and chronic heart failure (outcome) using Mendelian randomization. QRS data were sourced from GWAS and exome‐wide association studies (EWAS), and chronic heart failure GWAS data were ...

Pre‐admission beta‐blocker therapy and outcomes in cardiogenic shock: Insights from the Altshock‐2 Registry

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 2565-2577, August 2025.
Among 668 with cardiogenic shock included in the multicentre prospective Altshock‐2 registry, 299 patients (44.8%) received pre‐admission beta‐blocker therapy. Previous beta‐blocker therapy influenced the early hemodynamic response to vasoactive drugs, but it was not associated with in‐hospital mortality.

Celebrating a decade of the HFA young community: Achievements and future directions by the HFA Young Committee

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 2702-2710, August 2025.
Abstract The Heart Failure Association (HFA) Young initiative, established in 2014, welcomes all HFA members under 40 years of age, including physicians, scientists, nurses and allied health professionals. Its primary aim is to foster the growth of the next generation of heart failure (HF) specialists through a variety of educational and career ...

Impact of magnetic fields from tablets, laptops, smartphones, and household/leisure magnets on cardiac implantable electronic devices

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
This study on 13 Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) models revealed that surface magnetic fields of tablets, laptops, smartphones, and household magnets exceeded 10 G, potentially triggering magnet response mode. Activation occurred at ≤15 mm for electronic devices and ≤7 mm for household magnets.

Arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse—a systematic review of ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death outcomes before and after mitral valve surgery

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
This systematic review aims to determine whether MVS reduces the incidence of VA and SCD in patients with MVP. Available studies show a likely reduction when surgery is performed in line with current guideline‐directed indications; however, a residual risk of VA and SCD remains.

Mid‐term effects on sinus node function following additional empirical superior vena cava isolation in atrial fibrillation patients with sick sinus syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
The comparison of long‐term sinus node function between atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with sick sinus syndrome (SSS) who underwent pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) alone versus those who received additional empirical superior vena cava isolation (SVCI).
