AbstractCardiac sarcoidosis can have a variety of manifestations including conduction disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, pericardial effusions, tamponade, ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. In patients with sarcoidosis, the reported incidence of cardiac involvement ranges from 20% in US autopsy studies to nearly ...

Cardiac involvement is undeniably one of the most challenging issues in sarcoidosis. Although autopsy studies reveal heart lesions in 20 to 30% of sarcoid patients, fewer than 5% suffer from clinical disease. Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) has a predilection for the myocardium, but the pericardium and endocardium may also be affected.

Cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) is a rare and under-recognized clinical entity that requires a high level of suspicion and low threshold for screening in order to make the diagnosis. CS may manifest in a variety of ways, and its initial presentation can range from asymptomatic electrocardiographic abnormalities to overt heart failure to sudden cardiac death ...

The prognosis of sarcoidosis often considered as "benign" is significantly changed in the presence of a cardiac localization. An in-depth interview, a clinical examination together with ECG are often for most of sarcoidosis. Certain conditions (severe multisystemic sarcoidosis, rares localizations in particular neurological, renal, gastric) lead to ...

AbstractApproximately 5% of patients with sarcoidosis will have clinically manifest cardiac involvement presenting with one or more of ventricular arrhythmias, conduction abnormalities, and heart failure. It is estimated that another 20 to 25% of pulmonary/systemic sarcoidosis patients have asymptomatic cardiac involvement (clinically silent disease ...

Cardiac involvement is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with sarcoidosis. It is important to distinguish between clinical manifest diseases from clinically silent diseases. Advanced cardiac imaging studies are crucial in the diagnostic pathway.

A 23-year-old man was admitted to Niigata Prefectural Shibata Hospital in September 1992 because of sustained ventricular tachycardia and cardiogenic shock. After cardioversion of the ventricular tachycardia, his ECG showed sinus rhythm, left axis deviation, complete right bundle branch block, and left anterior fascicular block. The cardiac …
