Cardiac tamponade in hypothyroidism [PDF]
Pericardial effusion in overt hypothyroidism is common (incidence 3–6%), but cardiac tamponade and pretamponade as a presentation in newly diagnosed hypothyroidism is rare. For patients diagnosed with cardiac tamponade without sinus tachycardia, hypothyroidism should be suspected.1 Evaluation of hypothyroidism is often overlooked during the initial ...

Catheter Ablation: Evolution and Efficiencies
ABSTRACT The present review includes a discussion the goals and pitfalls of efficiency in the medical profession, a historical perspective on the evolution of catheter ablation in the field of electrophysiology (EP), and the data regarding the relationship between efficiency and outcomes in the EP lab. Focus on efficacy is critical to maximize resource

Cardiac tamponade is a rare presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), occurring in less than 1% of cases. Its coexistence with primary adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s disease) represents an even rarer clinical scenario.

In persistent AF, adjunctive dominant frequency‐guided ablation after pulmonary vein isolation did not significantly improve outcomes. Limited overlap between high‐frequency sites and low‐voltage areas suggests functional–structural dissociation, while right atrial low‐voltage burden predicts recurrence.

ABSTRACT Catheter ablation is an established therapy for ventricular tachycardia (VT); however, hemodynamic instability frequently limits procedural mapping and success. Temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) devices are increasingly used to maintain end‐organ perfusion during VT ablation, yet their impact on clinical outcomes remains ...

ABSTRACT Background The variable‐loop circular catheter (VLCC, VARIPULSE) is a pulsed‐field ablation (PFA) catheter equipped with a Tissue Proximity Indication (TPI) function, which monitors catheter‐tissue contact. Although TPI‐negative sites have been reported to contribute to gap formation, no studies have evaluated the utility of real‐time function.

We retrospectively reviewed all of the patients who were treated for cardiac tamponade at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital between January 1991 and December 1995. There were a total of 112 patients (57 males, 55 females) with a mean age of 51 +/- 14 years (53 +/- 15, 49 +/- 13, respectively). Dyspnea was the most common complaint (85%).
