DeepVelo: deep learning extends RNA velocity to multi-lineage systems with cell-specific kinetics

open access: yesGenome Biology
Existing RNA velocity estimation methods strongly rely on predefined dynamics and cell-agnostic constant transcriptional kinetic rates, assumptions often violated in complex and heterogeneous single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data.

Case Report: A Rare Case of a Ventricular Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Tumor With Histologic Characteristics That Resembled a Primary Cardiac Rhabdomyoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
We present the case of a young male patient with an initial diagnosis of a rhabdomyoma that was surgically treated at a different hospital when he was 17. After a 2-year disease-free period, the patient presented another intra-cardiac mass.

From pathogenesis to treatment, a systemic review of cardiac lipoma

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2021
Cardiac lipoma is an uncommon primary cardiac tumor. With the advancement of diagnostic methods and treatment techniques, more cases of cardiac lipomas have been reported and suggest that the entity previously widely thought to display classic features ...

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Two Decades of Contemporary Surgery of Primary Cardiac Tumors

open access: yesThe Surgery Journal, 2018
Objective The decision to operate cardiac tumors is an issue of balancing surgical outcome and survival with quality of life (QOL). We report our single-center experience in managing primary cardiac tumors between 1994 and 2014.

Association of Cardiac Infection With SARS-CoV-2 in Confirmed COVID-19 Autopsy Cases.

open access: yesJAMA cardiology, 2020
Importance Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can be documented in various tissues, but the frequency of cardiac involvement as well as possible consequences are unknown. Objective To evaluate the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

An unusual antenatal presentation of a mature pericardial teratoma masquerading as congenital pulmonary airway malformation

open access: yesJournal of Medical Ultrasound, 2023
We report an antenatal presentation of a huge pericardial mature teratoma that was referred as congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) in the late third trimester of pregnancy.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...
