Developing a novel positronium biomarker for cardiac myxoma imaging

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2021
Purpose Cardiac myxoma (CM), the most common cardiac tumor in adults, accounts for 50–75% of benign cardiac tumors. The diagnosis of CM is often elusive, especially in young stroke survivors and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is the initial ...

The accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells participates in abdominal infection‐induced tumor progression through the PD‐L1/PD‐1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1532-1545, May 2025.
This study explores how sepsis affects GC progression by creating an immunosuppressive environment. Our findings reveal that sepsis promotes immune dysregulation, enhancing tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway with monoclonal antibodies shows potential for restoring immune function and improving outcomes in cancer patients ...

Multimodality imaging of a subtotally obstructive right ventricular myxoma in an asymptomatic 10-year-old girl

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology, 2014
A 10-year-old girl presented with a supraventricular tachycardia. A heart murmur was detected during a clinical examination; therefore, echocardiography was performed.

A case of left atrial myxoma accompanied by pancytopenia and pathological findings suggestive of pulmonary hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A case of left atrial myxoma accompanied by peculiar symptoms is reported. A 15-year old boy had progressive congestive heart failure and three episodes of acute attacks of panctyopenia. The anemia was accompanied by helmet-shaped, broken red blood cells,

TRPM4 contributes to cell death in prostate cancer tumor spheroids, and to extravasation and metastasis in a zebrafish xenograft model system

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1299-1309, May 2025.
Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

Case Report: A Rare Case of a Ventricular Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Tumor With Histologic Characteristics That Resembled a Primary Cardiac Rhabdomyoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
We present the case of a young male patient with an initial diagnosis of a rhabdomyoma that was surgically treated at a different hospital when he was 17. After a 2-year disease-free period, the patient presented another intra-cardiac mass.

AC-Norm: Effective Tuning for Medical Image Analysis via Affine Collaborative Normalization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Driven by the latest trend towards self-supervised learning (SSL), the paradigm of "pretraining-then-finetuning" has been extensively explored to enhance the performance of clinical applications with limited annotations. Previous literature on model finetuning has mainly focused on regularization terms and specific policy models, while the misalignment

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...
