Aggregate-based Training Phase for ML-based Cardinality Estimation
Cardinality estimation is a fundamental task in database query processing and optimization. As shown in recent papers, machine learning (ML)-based approaches may deliver more accurate cardinality estimations than traditional approaches. However, a lot of

The Development of Arabic Digit Knowledge in 4- to 7-Year-Old Children
Recent studies indicate that Arabic digit knowledge rather than non-symbolic number knowledge is a key foundation for arithmetic proficiency at the start of a child’s mathematical career.

We prove that for every singular cardinal mu of cofinality omega, the complete Boolean algebra compP_mu(mu) contains as a complete subalgebra an isomorphic copy of the collapse algebra Comp Col(omega_1,mu^{aleph_0}). Consequently, adding a generic filter to the quotient algebra P_mu(mu)=P(mu)/[mu]^{

Handling Limited Overlap in Observational Studies with Cardinality Matching
:A common problem encountered in observational studies is limited overlap in covariate distributions across treatment groups. To address this problem, and avoid strong modeling assumptions, it has become common practice to restrict analyses to the ...

Equivalence of Partition Functions Leads to Classification of Entropies and Means
We derive a two-parameter family of generalized entropies, <em>Spq</em>, and means <em>mpq</em>. To this end, assume that we want to calculate an entropy and a mean for <em>n</

We introduce the notion of a critical cardinal as the critical point of sufficiently strong elementary embedding between transitive sets. Assuming the axiom of choice this is equivalent to measurability, but it is well-known that choice is necessary for the equivalence. Oddly enough, this central notion was never investigated on its own before.

We model and analyze cardinal contests, where a principal running a rank-order tournament has access to an absolute measure of the quality of agents’ submissions in addition to their relative rankings. We show that a mechanism that compares each agent’s output quality against a threshold to decide whether to award her the prize ...

ON CONFIGURATIONS CONCERNING CARDINAL CHARACTERISTICS AT REGULAR CARDINALS [PDF]
AbstractWe study the consistency and consistency strength of various configurations concerning the cardinal characteristics $\mathfrak {s}_\theta , \mathfrak {p}_\theta , \mathfrak {t}_\theta , \mathfrak {g}_\theta , \mathfrak {r}_\theta $ at uncountable regular cardinals $\theta $ .

Cardinality Estimation Method for Multitable JOIN Query Optimization [PDF]
Cardinality estimation is one of the important means to optimize database multitable JOIN queries.When the cardinality of a data table with a large number of data is estimated, data sampling is often used to obtain smaller samples to estimate the data ...

A Strategy of Efficient and Accurate Cardinality Estimation Based on Query Result [PDF]
Cardinality estimation is an important component of query optimization. Its accuracy and efficiency directly decide effect of query optimization. Traditional cardinality estimation strategy is based on original table or sample to collect statistics, then
