Worker Survival and Egg Production—But Not Transcriptional Activity—Respond to Queen Number in the Highly Polygynous, Invasive Ant Tapinoma magnum

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 6, March 2025.
ABSTRACT In social animals, reproductive activity and ageing are influenced by group composition. In monogynous (single‐queen) insect societies, queen presence affects worker fecundity and longevity, but less is known about worker responses to queen number variation in polygynous (multi‐queen) species or how queens age in these systems.

Differential expression of vitellogenin in the brain of Solenopsis invicta workers based on social and nutritional context

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 64-76, March 2025.
Gene expression analyses of the Solenopsis invicta worker brain in the presence or absence of brood revealed differential expression of Vg2 and Vg3 within the worker brains while in the absence of brood. Vg2 and Vg3 were differentially expressed in the head between workers conducting specific tasks as well as differing between subcastes.

The dynamics of male-male competition in Cardiocondyla obscurior ants

open access: yesBMC Ecology, 2012

A Review of Generalized Linear Latent Variable Models and Related Computational Approaches

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, Volume 16, Issue 6, November/December 2024.
Generalized linear latent variable models (GLLVMs) are nowadays popular tools for modeling multivariate, correlated responses. ABSTRACT Generalized linear latent variable models (GLLVMs) have become mainstream models in this analysis of correlated, m‐dimensional data.
