Disparities in Physical Activity and Sport Participation Among Transition‐Age Youth With Autism and Intellectual Disability

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Physical activity is critical for health, yet many adolescents do not engage in regular activity. Youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disability (ID) may be at heightened risk due to motor, sensory, and social barriers, but less is known about complete disengagement.

Stability of the CMI-ALS axis in prostate cancer patients: a new target for prognostic assessment and treatment optimization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Men's Health
Background: The Cardiometabolic index (CMI) is used to assess individual cardiovascular metabolic health status and risk of metabolic disorders. Allostatic load score (ALS) quantifies the body’s physiological response to stress.

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein is a predictive factor of adiposity in children : results of the Identification and prevention of Dietary- and lifestyle-induced health Effects in Children and InfantS (IDEFICS) study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background-Whereas cross-sectional studies have shown that obesity is associated with increased C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in children, little is known about the impact of low-grade inflammation on body mass changes during growth.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

Long‐term impact of Elexacaftor/Tezacaftor/ivacaftor on pulmonary, nutritional and metabolic outcomes in homozygous F508del cystic fibrosis patients: A real‐world cohort study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim Elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) has markedly improved cystic fibrosis (CF) outcomes. However, its long‐term impact on nutrition, metabolism and liver health remains underexplored. We assessed 30‐month changes in pulmonary, nutritional, metabolic and inflammatory markers in people with CF (PwCF) homozygous for F508del.

Impact of neighborhood disadvantage on cardiometabolic health and cognition in a community‐dwelling cohort

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
INTRODUCTION Neighborhood disadvantage may be an important determinant of cardiometabolic health and cognitive aging. However, less is known about relationships among individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

The Bidirectional Relationship Between Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Metabolic Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder, effecting 17% of the total population and 40–70% of the obese population (1, 2). Multiple studies have identified OSA as a critical risk factor for the development of obesity, diabetes, and ...

Comparative efficacy of GLP‐1 RA, tirzepatide and SGLT‐2 inhibitors in metabolic liver disease: A network meta‐analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim Metabolic liver disease, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, is a major cause of chronic liver dysfunction worldwide, creating an urgent need for effective treatments. This systematic literature review (SLR) and network meta‐analysis (NMA) systematically reviews and compares the efficacy and safety ...
