Understanding public perspectives of prehospital trauma research: A qualitative community engagement study on consent and blood transfusion

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Unintentional injuries are a major cause of death worldwide. Modern trauma systems have reduced morbidity and mortality through rapid prehospital care, yet trauma research faces challenges obtaining informed consent during emergencies.

Dexamethasone Versus Placebo in Comatose Survivors of Out‐of‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest: Study Protocol for a Multicenter Randomized Comparison Within the Danish Out‐of‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest Trial (DANOHCA)

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The inflammatory response to whole‐body ischemia, as seen in comatose survivors after out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Early high‐dose dexamethasone may dampen the inflammatory response, which may diminish secondary brain damage and other organ injury and decrease mortality.

The Danish Out‐of‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest Trial: A Statistical Analysis Plan

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 7, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Post‐cardiac arrest care for patients resuscitated from out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) includes multiple pharmacological and physiological interventions, yet optimal strategies to reduce post‐cardiac arrest syndrome–related morbidity and mortality remain uncertain.

Model based optimization of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedure [PDF]

open access: yes2012 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2012
This paper is concerned with the optimization of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedure, which plays a critical rule in saving the life of patients suffering from cardiac arrest. In this paper, we define the performance index for optimization using the oxygen delivery.

JAK Inhibition in PNPT1‐Related Mitochondrial Interferonopathy: A Case Report and Review of Mitochondrial–Immune Crosstalk

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Biallelic pathogenic variants in PNPT1 cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 13 (COXPD13) (MIM #614932), linking mitochondrial dysfunction to type I interferon (IFN) activation through cytosolic leakage of mitochondrial double‐stranded RNA (mt‐dsRNA).

Hemorrhagic Shock due to Internal Thoracic Artery Injury After Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Internal thoracic artery injury can occur after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Aggressive fluid resuscitation may mask additional bleeding sites in cases of hemorrhage‐induced cardiac arrest.
