SR‐A3 Promotes USP18‐Mediated deISGylation of STING to Protect Against Myocardial Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MI/RI is a major clinical challenge with high morbidity and mortality. This study demonstrates that SR‐A3 expression is downregulated in MI/RI, and its deletion exacerbates damage via the USP18/ISG15/STING axis, revealing SR‐A3 as a potential therapeutic target.

The Interaction of Cardiorespiratory Fitness With Obesity and the Obesity Paradox in Cardiovascular Disease [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 2017
Overweight and obesity are well-established risk factors for most cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including coronary heart disease (CHD), heart failure (HF), and atrial fibrillation. Despite the strong link between excess adiposity and risk of CVD, growing evidence has demonstrated an obesity paradox in patients with CVD.

Sex‐ and Time‐Resolved Physiological and Gut Ecosystem Responses to a Food‐Grade Microbiome‐Targeted Intervention in Collegiate Endurance Athletes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In collegiate endurance athletes, a 6‐week randomized CPYE intervention yielded time‐ and sex‐dependent shifts in field‐based cardiorespiratory, metabolic, and redox indices, accompanied by changes in gut multi‐omics profiles. An exploratory extension during intensified training generates hypotheses warranting future validation.

ROS‐Responsive Nanoparticle Delivery of Dexmedetomidine Protects the Gut Vascular Barrier After Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion via the HDAC‐H3K27ac‐TCF4 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A low dose of dexmedetomidine, delivered by ROS‐responsive nanoparticles, preferentially accumulates in the ischemic intestine and restores gut vascular barrier integrity after ischemia/reperfusion injury. This nanoparticle‐based strategy prevents bacterial translocation and liver damage without cardiorespiratory side effects, working through HDAC ...

PLXDC2 siRNA‐Mediated Intervention Attenuates Microglial Senescence Through cGAS‐STING Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PLXDC2 was identified as a microglial target in Parkinson's disease through human and mouse single‐cell analyses. Ferritin‐armed biomimetic nanovesicles delivered PLXDC2 siRNA, deferoxamine, and CeO2 nanoparticles across the blood–brain barrier, reducing cGAS‐STING activation, iron burden, oxidative stress, and senescence in microglia, thereby ...

Effects of empagliflozin on cardiorespiratory fitness and significant interaction of loop diuretics [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, 2018
The effects of empagliflozin on cardiorespiratory fitness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) are unknown. In this pilot study we determined the effects of empagliflozin 10 mg/d for 4 weeks on peak oxygen consumption (VO 2 )

Multimodal Imaging of Hypoxia, Metabolism and pH in Feline Sarcoma Using Hyperpolarized 13C MRI and PET

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a clinically deployable simultaneous PET/MRI workflow which integrates hyperpolarized 13C imaging of metabolism and extracellular pH with [18F]FMISO PET to characterize hypoxia, acidosis, and metabolic reprogramming in feline sarcoma.

The cardiorespiratory interaction : a nonlinear stochastic model and its synchronization properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We address the problem of interactions between the phase of cardiac and respiration oscillatory components. The coupling between these two quantities is experimentally investigated by the theory of stochastic Markovian processes.

Alkylating Agent–Induced FANCL Impairment Damages Pulmonary Arterial, Venous, and Microvascular Endothelial Cells and Predisposes to PAH/PVOD

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes a novel cisplatin‐induced rat model of PAH/PVOD and identifies a conserved mechanistic axis—FANCL impairment, DNA damage accumulation, and endothelial dysfunction—triggered by cisplatin or mitomycin C across pulmonary arteries, veins, and microvessels.
