Iododerma Complicating Cardiovascular Surgery

A patient had cardiovascular surgery and received pericardial povidone-iodine irrigation along with extensive topical povidone-iodine. A postoperative febrile response occurred and persisted despite antibiotic therapy. Within 24 hours of the administration of oral potassium iodide, a pustular iododerma occurred.
