Heart Rate Variability Series is the Output of a non-Chaotic System driven by Dynamical Noise [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Heart rate variability (HRV) series reflects the dynamical variation of heartbeat-to-heartbeat intervals in time and is one of the outputs of the cardiovascular system. Over the years, this system has been recognized for generating nonlinear and complex heartbeat dynamics, with the latter referring to a high sensitivity to small -- theoretically ...

Human Cervix Chip: A Preclinical Model for Studying the Role of the Cervical Mucosa and Microbiome in Female Reproductive Health

open access: yesBioEssays, EarlyView.
The microfluidic Cervix Chip is an in vitro model of the human cervix lined by cervical epithelium interfaced with stromal cells cultured under dynamic flow that represents a new preclinical platform for studying mucosal immunity, host‐microbiome interactions, infections, fertility, and pregnancy health.

Non-Invasive Arterial Pulse Detection with Millimeter-wave Radar and Comparison With Photoplethysmography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of mortality and disability. The convenient measurement of cardiovascular health using smart systems is therefore a key enabler to foster accurate and early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and it require accessing a correct pulse morphology similar to arterial pressure wave.

The contribution of extracellular RNA and its derived biomaterials in disease management

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The implications of exRNA's biological function and the structural uniqueness of RNA help establish a close connection between RNA, material, and modern medicine. Abstract The RNA found in the circular system is known as extracellular RNA (exRNA). This kind of RNA has been found to play a biological role similar to that of a messenger. They can be used

Cardiovascular instrumentation for spaceflight [PDF]

open access: yes
The observation mechanisms dealing with pressure, flow, morphology, temperature, etc. are discussed. The approach taken in the performance of this study was to (1) review ground and space-flight data on cardiovascular function, including earlier related ...

Predictive Information Decomposition as a Tool to Quantify Emergent Dynamical Behaviors In Physiological Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Objective: This work introduces a framework for multivariate time series analysis aimed at detecting and quantifying collective emerging behaviors in the dynamics of physiological networks. Methods: Given a network system mapped by a vector random process, we compute the predictive information (PI) between the present and past network states and ...

Aminated graphene nanosheet stimulates the maturation of hiPSCs‐derived cardiomyocytes in vitro and enhances their survival in vivo

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Aminated graphene (G‐NH2) niche matrix plays a pivotal role in precisely manipulating cardiac differentiation and maturation of hiPSCs. The molecular mechanism underlying cardiomyocyte maturation is closely linked to the PDGF‐β signaling pathway. Cardiomyocytes derived from the G‐NH2 matrix exhibit enhanced activity and functionality in vivo.
