Inhibition of IGFBP4 in Granulosa Cells Improves Reproductive Performance and Maintains Fertility With Age via YAP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 is upregulated in granulosa cells of aged ovaries across monkeys, mice, and humans. It inhibits YAP signaling, thereby suppressing cell proliferation and contributing to follicular dysfunction. Deletion of Igfbp4 in granulosa cells enhances ovulatory output, improves hormone profiles, and reproductive performance in aged female mice, suggesting ...

A Rapid Increase in Serum Lactate Levels after Cardiovascular Surgery Is Associated with Postoperative Serious Adverse Events: A Single Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Hyperlactatemia is a common predictive factor for poor post-cardiovascular surgery outcomes. However, it is not well understood whether the rapid postoperative lactate level elevation in a short period of time is associated with ...

Rab1A Promotes Hepatic Steatosis by Suppressing Mitophagy via the Raf‐1/ERK1/2/PINK1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why does fat accumulate in the liver? Our study reveals Rab1A as the molecular switch that silences the cell's mitochondrial cleanup crew. Turning Rab1A off reactivates mitophagy, clears excess fat, and reverses fatty liver disease in mice—offering a promising new therapeutic target for MASLD, a growing global health challenge.

Development and validation of a prediction model for acute kidney injury following cardiac valve surgery

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundAcute kidney injury (AKI) often accompanies cardiac valve surgery, and worsens patient outcome. The aim of our study is to identify preoperative and intraoperative independent risk factors for AKI in patients undergoing cardiac valve surgery ...

BAP31 Drives Cartilage Calcification through Disruption of Autophagosome–Lysosome Fusion in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical stress activates BAP31 in chondrocytes. BAP31 competes with ATG14 for binding to STX17, disrupting the STX17–ATG14 complex required for autophagosome–lysosome fusion. The resultant autophagic flux blockade drives the generation of autophagy‐derived exosomes, which mediate pathological cartilage calcification in OA. Chondrocyte‐targeted BAP31

Chiral Nanoparticles Suppress Inflammatory Infiltration to Promote Extracellular Matrix Remodeling for Ectopia Lentis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine‐configured chiral polyurethane nanoparticles suppress ocular inflammation and reduce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in ectopia lentis by regulating macrophages polarization and inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway. By promoting zonular fiber‐associated protein restoration and tissue repair, this minimally invasive ...
