Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Development of techniques to optimize the technical parameters of transport cargo complexes

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Quantitative Analysis of Cargo Density in Single-extracellular Vesicles by Imaging
Function of extracellular vesicles such as exosomes and microvesicles is determined by their wide ranges of cargoes inside them. Even in the pure exosomes or microvesicles the cargo contents are very heterogeneous. To understand this heterogeneous nature

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Cargo properties play a critical role in myosin Va-driven cargo transport along actin filaments
High-resolution experiments revealed that a single myosin-Va motor can transport micron-sized cargo on actin filaments in a stepwise manner. However, intracellular cargo transport is mediated through the dense actin meshwork by a team of myosin Va motors.
