The practicality of moral language and dynamic descriptivism

open access: yesMind &Language, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 158-176, February 2026.
When speakers make moral claims, they often indicate that they are themselves committed to, or aim to commit their addressee to, certain actions or attitudes. The way that moral language is practical in these ways is often considered to be detrimental for any descriptivist semantics of moral language.

Carnap y la construcción lógica de emociones

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2014
En el Aufbau, Carnap mencionó la posibilidad de adelantar una construcción lógica de las emociones en forma completamente análoga a la construcción lógica de las cualidades sensoriales. Esta tarea, sin embargo, nunca se llevó a cabo. Me propongo mostrar

The Epistemic Significance of Valid Inference – A Model-Theoretic Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

The Problem of Measure Sensitivity Redux [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fitelson (1999) demonstrates that the validity of various arguments within Bayesian confirmation theory depends on which confirmation measure is adopted. The present paper adds to the results set out in Fitelson (1999), expanding on them in two principal

Model‐Based Semantics: Doing Without Meaning Constitution

open access: yesMetaphilosophy, Volume 57, Issue 1-2, Page 103-118, January 2026.
Abstract This paper introduces a model‐based account of meaning, arguing that meaning properties reside in models rather than in the external world. Building on this view, it explores how such an instrumentalist framework can engage critically with various concerns raised by Wittgenstein, Quine, and Kripke[nstein]—each of whom voiced scepticism toward ...

open access: yesPrincípios, 2007
Our purpose in this paper is twofold. The first is to understand why Carnap´s project of building a logic of induction as a whole was not successful.

The Adoption Problem and Anti-Exceptionalism about Logic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Anti-exceptionalism about logic takes logic to be, as the name suggests, unexceptional. Rather, in naturalist fashion, the anti-exceptionalist takes logic to be continuous with science, and considers logical theories to be adoptable and revisable ...

Teaching Students to Understand Knowledge: Stress‐Testing the ‘Justified True Belief Account’ for Critical Thinking

open access: yesFuture in Educational Research, Volume 3, Issue 4, Page 569-579, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This conceptual essay, grounded in a close reading of Plato's Theaetetus, argues that before educators can effectively operationalise critical thinking as the rigorous evaluation ('stress‐testing') of competing knowledge claims, university students must first understand foundational epistemological principles rooted in Plato's tripartite ...
