Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Direct Expression of CPT1a Enables a High Throughput Platform for the Discovery of CPT1a Modulators

open access: yesApplied Biosciences
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1), which catalyzes the rate-limiting step of fatty acid oxidation, has been implicated in therapeutic approaches to several human diseases characterized by aberrant lipid metabolism.

Immunoquantitative Analysis of Human Carnitine Palmitoyltransferase I and II Defects [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1990
Carnitine palmitoyltransferase deficiency realizes two distinct clinical forms. We previously showed and confirmed in the present work that CPTII (identified as the carnitine palmitoyltransferase activity assayable in detergent conditions) is decreased in the muscular form whereas it is unaffected and CPTI is decreased in the hepatic form. The antibody

Overview of Encapsulated Lysine and Methionine and Their Impacts on Transition Cow Performance and Health

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The transition period in dairy cows, spanning 3 weeks before and after calving, is a critical phase characterized by increased nutrient demands, reduced dry matter intake (DMI), and elevated risk of metabolic disorders such as negative nutrient balance (NNB), lipolysis, proteolysis, and oxidative stress.

Phloretin Suppresses Preadipocyte Differentiation by Targeting PPARγ/Transferrin to Activate Ferroptosis Signaling Pathway

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Phloretin alleviates HFD‐induced obesity and suppresses adipogenesis by activating the ferroptosis pathway, potentially via targeting PPARγ and transferrin. ABSTRACT Phloretin, a plant‐derived dihydrochalcone bioactive compound, potentially modulates preadipocyte differentiation, although this remains controversial and requires further clarification ...

Recurrent rhabdomyolysis caused by carnitine palmitoyltransferase II deficiency, common but under-recognised: Lessons to be learnt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We discuss two adult siblings who presented with symptoms of myalgia and rhabdomyolysis following exercise with myoglobinuria; genetic testing confirmed carnitine palmitoyltransferase II deficiency and resulted in institution of appropriate crisis ...

Maintenance of Carnitine Homeostasis as a Therapeutic Strategy to Attenuate Cisplatin‐Induced Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Acute kidney injury (AKI) has emerged as a significant global public health concern due to its high morbidity and mortality rates. Cisplatin, a highly effective and widely used chemotherapeutic agent, is often limited in clinical application by its nephrotoxicity, particularly AKI.

Effets de l’acide trans-10, cis-12 linoléique sur le métabolisme des lipides dans le foie chez la souris C57BL/6

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2005
A 4-week diet containing 1% of the conjugated trans-10,cis-12 linoleic acid (CLA2) induces, in C57BL/6 mice, a lipodystrophy, a liver steatosis and a reduction of plasma triglycerides.
