Histological Findings in Testes of Baboons (Papio spp.) and Dwarf Bucks (Capra hircus) Subject to Repeated Immunisation Against GnRH

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
Long‐term repeated immunisation against GnRH resulted in the absence of active spermatogenesis and may lead to irreversible infertility in dwarf bucks and baboons. Histological examination revealed a marked reduction of the seminiferous tubular lumen, complete depletion of germ cells, germ cell vacuolization and tubular hyalinization.

A Topographical Anatomical Description of the Orbit of the Alpaca, Vicugna pacos

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To describe the gross anatomy of the orbita in Huacaya alpacas, identify species‐specific features, and provide comparative anatomical information relevant to clinical ophthalmic practice. Animals Studied Nine heads from postmortem donated Huacaya alpacas were used. Procedures Two skulls were evaluated to characterize the orbita, and

Skeletal pathologies in extant crocodilians as a window into the paleopathology of fossil archosaurs

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 10, Page 2698-2724, October 2026.
Abstract Crocodilians, together with birds, are the only extant relatives to many extinct archosaur groups, making them highly important for interpreting paleopathological conditions in a phylogenetic disease bracketing model. Despite this, comprehensive data on osteopathologies in crocodilians remain scarce.

Morphological variation in atlas and axis of Neotropical spiny rats (Rodentia, Echimyidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 10, Page 2873-2896, October 2026.
Abstract The unique morphologies of the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, represent a significant innovation in mammalian evolution. These structures support the weight of the head and enable intricate movements of the head and neck.

Sociability Under Anthropogenic Change: From Individual Behaviour to Population‐Level Consequences

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Our review synthesises empirical and theoretical research on how anthropogenic environmental change reshapes animal social behaviour from individuals to populations. We use sociability as an individual‐level lens, distinguishing context‐dependent expression from repeatable interindividual differences and linking both to social relationships, network ...

Wolves and humans both shape patterns of deer browsing in a temperate forest ecosystem of Central Europe

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 10, October 2026.
Predator–prey interactions can trigger behavioural responses in ungulates, influencing their space‐use and foraging behaviour and, in turn, indirectly affecting browsing pressure. Changes in browsing pressure can affect plant recruitment and species composition, shaping forest regeneration through predator‐mediated trophic cascades.
