A simple quantum heat engine [PDF]
Quantum heat engines employ as working agents multi-level systems instead of gas-filled cylinders. We consider particularly two-level agents such as electrons immersed in a magnetic field.

Efficiency and power of a thermoelectric quantum dot device
We study linear response and nonequilibrium steady-state thermoelectric transport through a single-level quantum dot tunnel coupled to two reservoirs held at different temperatures as well as chemical potentials.

Electrical power production from low-grade waste heat using a thermally regenerative ethylenediamine battery [PDF]
Thermally regenerative ammonia-based batteries (TRABs) have been developed to harvest low-grade waste heat as electricity. To improve the power production and anodic coulombic efficiency, the use of ethylenediamine as an alternative ligand to ammonia was

Synthesis of α‐Pentafluorosulfanylated‐β2,3‐Amino Esters
De novo α‐SF5‐β2,3‐amino esters are now accessible through a straightforward aza‐Michael reaction using a series of newly developed (E)‐α‐SF5‐α,β‐unsaturated esters. Two new, highly functionalized, contiguous tertiary stereocenters are formed with diastereodivergence governed by the choice of solvent and/or base.

Comparison of Conventional and Microwave Heating
Carnot batteries (or Power-to-Heat-to-Power systems) are capable of increasing the use of electricity from photovoltaic or wind power plants to achieve decarbonisation of the electricity sector.

Direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide (CO2) emerges as a key strategy for climate crisis mitigation. Redox‐mediated electrochemical carbon capture offers a promising route for energy‐efficient DAC. This perspective discusses recent advances in the field, highlighting key challenges, such as oxygen interference at low CO2 concentrations, and ...

Quantum Equivalence and Quantum Signatures in Heat Engines
Quantum heat engines (QHE) are thermal machines where the working substance is quantum. In the extreme case the working medium can be a single particle or a few level quantum system.

Solar Dish Collectors for Hydrogen Production: A Review
Solar‐driven hydrogen production stands at the nexus of the global transition toward net‐zero energy systems. This review surveys the role of solar dish collectors (SDCs) as high‐flux concentrators that can directly or indirectly split water, positioning hydrogen as a long‐duration, carbon‐free energy carrier.

Quantacell: Powerful charging of quantum batteries
We study the problem of charging a quantum battery in finite time. We demonstrate an analytical optimal protocol for the case of a single qubit. Extending this analysis to an array of N qubits, we demonstrate that an N-fold advantage in power per qubit ...
