Using ammonia in combination with hypochlorites as simple oxidants under phase‐transfer conditions allows for the direct oxidative α‐amination of reactive enolate precursors such as cyclic β‐ketoesters, oxindoles, as well as malonitriles and malonates with good to excellent yields.

Vertical temperature gradient of the ocean as perspective source of renewable energy [PDF]
In our research we studied the efficiency of converting low-grade heat into electrical energy. The studied cycle is based on sulphuric acid solutions separation in temperature gradient and further electricity generation in concentration galvanic cell. In

Carnot's Cycle and Efficiency of Heat Engines [PDF]
ON p. 326 of NATURE for August 29 appears an abstract of a paper by Dr. J. S. Haldane, which he read before the Institution of Mining Engineers on June 16. In this paper he has “thrown to the winds” the usual academic teaching in regard to the efficiency of a Carnot cycle, and has put forward a claim that another cycle has a greater efficiency.
