Equivalent Carnot cycles for sorption refrigeration

International Journal of Refrigeration, 1998
Abstract Temperature–entropy diagrams are usually used to describe heat-driven engines as well as vapour compressor refrigerators, but they have not yet been used for sorption refrigeration. Such Carnot cycles are introduced here to describe three sorption refrigeration technologies (liquid absorption, solid adsorption, chemical reaction).

The Carnot cycle and Maxwell's relations

Journal of Chemical Education, 1964
Maxwells equations can be derived from nothing more than the Carnot cycle and the deployment of the simplest plane geometry.

Complexity in the stepwise ideal gas Carnot cycle

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2002
A stepwise Carnot cycle is performed by means of N small weights (here called dw's), which are first added and then removed from the piston of the vessel containing the gas. The size of the dw's affects the entropy production. The work performed by the gas can be found as increase of the potential energy of the dw's. We identify each single dw and thus

A constant volume Carnot engine cycle

IECEC-97 Proceedings of the Thirty-Second Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference (Cat. No.97CH6203), 1997
An engine is presented such that its total volume is constant and whose cycle is the Carnot cycle as presented in the entropy-temperature picture, not as presented (by many textbooks) in the pressure-volume picture. The isothermal expansion and compression are replaced by an isothermal heat transfer between the surroundings and the engine such that ...

The Carnot Cycle and Reversible Changes

2011
We first recall the notion of virtual change with a view to making it more precise than was done in the course of the first Part.
