Spontaneous Carotid-Cavernous Fistulas

open access: yesNeurologia medico-chirurgica, 1981
Seven patients with spontaneous carotid-cavernous fistulas are reported. Angiography showed a direct shunt between the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus in twc patients (Cases 2 and 6) and dural arteriovenous shunts in the cavernous sinus region in five patients (Cases 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7).

Carotid cavernous fistula: Ophthalmological implications

open access: yesMiddle East African Journal of Ophthalmology, 2009
Carotid cavernous fistula (CCF) is an abnormal communication between the cavernous sinus and the carotid arterial system. A CCF can be due to a direct connection between the cavernous segment of the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus, or a communication between the cavernous sinus, and one or more meningeal branches of the internal carotid

Detection of interictal epileptiform discharges using multiple bilateral insertions of a newly developed microcatheter‐compatible endovascular electroencephalogram electrode: A clinical feasibility trial

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess the feasibility, technical performance, and safety of a novel endovascular electroencephalogram (eEEG) electrode, EP‐01, designed for minimally invasive seizure localization in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy. Methods This single‐center, prospective, exploratory trial enrolled five patients with drug‐resistant ...
