Description of unilateral kidney embolism and contralateral nephrectomy as a less invasive remnant kidney model in cats; a proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Unilateral, minimally invasive, renal arterial embolization and delayed contralateral nephrectomy was described in cats as a novel remnant kidney model of chronic kidney disease using two doses of embolic particles. Renal function declined and characteristic histopathological markers of kidney disease were present 6 months after the embolism procedure.

Congenital absence of the internal carotid artery associated with cerebral hemiatrophy, absence of the external carotid artery, and persistence of the stapedial artery.

open access: yesThe American journal of roentgenology, radium therapy, and nuclear medicine, 1973
Unilateral congenital absence of the internal carotid artery, either partial or total, has been rarely demonstrated. We are presenting 1 case of each entity. The case of partial absence is unique in that it is felt to represent the first known case of ...

Self‐gated, dynamic contrast‐enhanced magnetic resonance imaging with compressed‐sensing reconstruction for evaluating endothelial permeability in the aortic root of atherosclerotic mice

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 36, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Atherosclerotic plaques at high risk of causing cardiovascular events are characterized by a prominent inflammatory infiltrate accompanied by the presence of an extensive network of leaky microvessels. In this paper, we present a dynamic contrast‐enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE‐MRI) acquisition and compressed sensing reconstruction to aortic ...

Anomalous external carotid-internal carotid artery anastomosis diagnosed by computed tomography angiography: a case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2020
An anomalous anastomosis between the external and internal carotid arteries forming an arterial ring at the level of the cervical internal carotid artery is an extremely rare variant, and its embryological origin remains unclear.

3D‐cultured BMSC exosomes improve cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury‐induced neuronal apoptosis by regulating the microglia polarization

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The study reveals that microglial activation significantly contributes to neuroinflammation following cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury. It demonstrates that utilizing GelMA hydrogel for three‐dimensional culture of bone marrow‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) enhances the efficacy of BMSC‐derived exosomes in regulating microglial polarization

Anomolous Origin of the Branches from the Common Carotid Artery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The following result is found out by observing the Japanese one right internal carotid artery which is very thin and form the intero-occipital trunk. The common carotid artery are covered by the stylohyoid muscle and are divided into two branches ; the ...

Blister Aneurysms of the Internal Carotid Artery: Microsurgical Results and Management Strategy

open access: yesNeurosurgery, 2016
Background Blister aneurysms of the supraclinoid internal carotid artery (ICA) are challenging lesions with high intraoperative rupture rates and significant morbidity.

Blood clot inspired pore‐gradient nanofiber sponge with “outer filtration” and “inner adsorption” bifunction for rapid stop of uncontrolled hemorrhage

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
In this study, by mimicking the nanofiber structure and netting blood cells function of fibrin network in blood clots, we developed a novel bioinspired quaternized chitosan nanofiber sponge with distinct blood cell filtration and blood plasma absorption bifunction for rapid hemostasis.
