Internal carotid artery hypoplasia
Computerized Radiology, 1986Hypoplasia of the carotid arteries is a rare congenital anomaly which when clinically symptomatic presents as cerebral ischemia or hemorrhage. Patients with this anomaly commonly have associated variations of the circle of Willis, an increased incidence of intracranial aneurysms and extensive networks of collateral vessels to accommodate the diminished

Aberrant Internal Carotid Artery
Southern Medical Journal, 1994An aberrant internal carotid artery (ICA) in the middle ear is rare. If unrecognized, it may lead to massive hemorrhage or other catastrophic results during even a minor surgical procedure of the tympanic membrane or middle ear. Recognition of this entity is particularly significant to the primary care or emergency department physician who performs ...

Pseudothrombosis of the Internal Carotid Artery
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1962Al though ar ter iograms demons t ra t ing falsepositive obst ruct ion in the internal carotid ar tery have been described, a final unders tanding of this phenomenon is still lacking. 5,7,1~ In order to examine this en t i ty fur ther the following case of pseudothrombosis of the internal carotid ar tery is presented.

Aplasia of the internal carotid artery
Acta Neurochirurgica, 2003The majority of previous reports on this rare agenesis of the internal carotid artery (ICA) have been limited to reporting upon its association with other congenital anomalies case by case. In order to collectively summarize this congenital anomaly of ICA, we have reviewed nine cases of ICA aplasia and their associated abnormalities.Nine cases of ICA ...

OCCLUSION OF THE INTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY
Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1951SINCE the introduction of carotid arteriography, many unsuspected cases of occlusion of the internal carotid artery have been discovered. In the last 13 years approximately 45 cases have been reported, the diagnosis resting to a great extent on roentgenologic evidence.

THROMBOSIS OF THE INTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY
American Journal of Psychiatry, 1962Angiography has taught us much about the symptomatology of occlusion of the internal carotid artery; it may produce no symptoms or may be followed by variable complications. Simple occlusion may produce no sequelae if the circle of Willis functions efficiently and if adequate collateral circulation is established.

Pseudoaneurysm of Internal Carotid Artery
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2007Pseudoaneurysms of the extracranial Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) are rare. Here it is reported a case of posttraumatic extracranial ICA pseudoaneurysm in a three-year-old boy. The pseudoaneurysm arising from the extracranial ICA was initially diagnosed by DSA. Later on confirmed by Doppler and MRA.

Internal Carotid Artery Thrombosis
Archives of Surgery, 1958Practitioners of medicine have long recognized the clinical entity known as "stroke," or "cerebral vascular accident." For many years the cause of the neurologic manifestations has been evident, as either hemorrhage or thrombosis. Similarly, the syndrome of internal carotid artery thrombosis and certain of its sequelae have been recognized. However, it

Carotid cave aneurysms of the internal carotid artery
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1989✓ In a series of 32 surgical cases of carotid-ophthalmic artery aneurysm, seven of the lesions were located in the “carotid cave.” This special type of aneurysm is usually small and projects medially on the anteroposterior view of the angiogram. At surgery, it is located intradurally at the dural penetration of the internal carotid artery (ICA) on the ...

Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2015
We present an extremely rare case of an aberrant course of the petrous internal carotid artery (ICA) associated with the ipsilateral occipital artery arising from the cervical ICA, a combination not previously reported by magnetic resonance (MR) angiography. The patient was a 53-year-old woman with no symptoms related to the anomalous ICA.
