Carotid Artery Stenting After Carotid Endarterectomy
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2011Atherosclerotic carotid artery disease remains an important cause of cerebrovascular ischemic disease. We present a patient with residual stenosis of the distal internal carotid artery following carotid endarterectomy that was treated with stenting. The case highlights the potential complimentary benefits of carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting.

Carotid Artery Stenting Will Replace Carotid Endarterectomy
Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2007Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Carotid artery stenosis represents one of the most common etiologies of stroke. The current treatment modalities available for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis are carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS).

Techniques in carotid artery stenting
European Journal of Radiology, 2006Endovascular carotid artery interventions are unforgiving of mistakes and poor technique. The approach should be team based where all members of the team are experienced and know their jobs perfectly. This, combined with a deep knowledge of the equipment and the anatomy will reduce complications to a minimum.

Carotid artery in-stent restenosis after carotid artery stenting.
The Journal of invasive cardiology, 2008Carotid in-stent restenosis is a potential long-term sequela that may occur after carotid artery stenting. We report a single-center experience with this procedure and reviewed the database for individual patient characteristics and possible management options.

Carotid artery stenting: A Review.
2007Abstract View references (48) Carotid artery stenting (CAS) has emerged as an alternative to carotid endarterectomy (CEA) for the treatment of carotid stenosis, yet there remains a substantial amount of variability and uncertainty in clinical practice in the referral of patients for stenting versus endarterectomy.
