Carotid Artery Stenting: Update
International Journal of Cardiovascular Interventions, 2005"Extracranial carotid artery stenosis is responsible for approximately 20-30% of ischemic strokes. Traditionally, carotid artery stenosis has been treated with carotid endarterectomy. However, the low periprocedural complication rate and the mid term durability of carotid artery stenting has made it a competitive alternative treatment strategy.

Credentialing for Carotid Artery Stenting
Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2005Endovascular treatment of cervical carotid artery stenosis is a rapidly expanding area of clinical competence, and physicians from various subspecialties are already performing carotid artery stenting. As a result of the diverse specialty backgrounds of physicians performing carotid artery stenting, consensus regarding the establishment of ...

Carotid artery stenting versus carotid endarterectomy [PDF]
AbstractStroke remains a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality in developed countries. Carotid artery stenosis is a major cause of stroke. Advances in medical therapy, surgical technique and endovascular maturation has resulted in options for the treatment of carotid stenosis.

Carotid Artery Pseudoaneurysm as a Complication of Carotid Artery Stenting
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2015Carotid artery stenting (CAS) has been adopted more in the treatment of carotid artery stenosis recently. The vast majority of studies about this procedure have concentrated mainly on the short- and long-term clinical complications, that is, stroke, myocardial infarction, and restenosis.

Carotid Artery Stenting After Carotid Endarterectomy
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2011Atherosclerotic carotid artery disease remains an important cause of cerebrovascular ischemic disease. We present a patient with residual stenosis of the distal internal carotid artery following carotid endarterectomy that was treated with stenting. The case highlights the potential complimentary benefits of carotid endarterectomy and carotid stenting.

Carotid Artery Stenting Will Replace Carotid Endarterectomy
Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, 2007Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Carotid artery stenosis represents one of the most common etiologies of stroke. The current treatment modalities available for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis are carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS).

Techniques in carotid artery stenting
European Journal of Radiology, 2006Endovascular carotid artery interventions are unforgiving of mistakes and poor technique. The approach should be team based where all members of the team are experienced and know their jobs perfectly. This, combined with a deep knowledge of the equipment and the anatomy will reduce complications to a minimum.
