Plasma soluble CD36, carotid intima-media thickness and cognitive function in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction : Diabetes and atherosclerosis are both risk factors of cognitive deficits. Scavenger receptor CD36 is associated with increasing risk of diabetes and atherosclerosis, and may play a role in cognitive deficits.

Multi‐omics integration and machine learning identify an ACKR1+ endothelial cell‐based lactate‐immune signature associated with carotid plaque vulnerability and progression

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
ACKR1+ endothelial cells mark intraplaque neovessels with hyperactive glycolysis and lactate metabolism. Lactate, HIF‐1α and CXCL12 link this state to CXCR4+ CD8+ T‐cell recruitment in situ. SLC16A3 and SLC16A4 serve as quantitative readouts of this lactate–immune state.

Converting Equol Nonproducers to Producers: A Systematic Review of Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
This systematic review, following PRISMA guidelines, screened 503 records identified through PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and ClinicalTrials.gov, of which 12 randomized clinical trials (n = 730, 85.5% female) met inclusion criteria. Interventions included soy isoflavones alone, probiotics, or prebiotics combined with soy, fermented soy products ...

Subclinical cardiac alterations and cardiometabolic profile in adolescents with newly diagnosed polycystic ovary syndrome: A cross‐sectional comparative echocardiographic study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 310-321, October 2026.
Abstract Objective While cardiometabolic comorbidities have been well established in adults with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it remains unclear whether the early signs of cardiovascular morbidity emerge during adolescence. This study aimed to investigate whether metabolic and cardiovascular alterations begin in adolescents with PCOS.

Carotid Intima–Media Thickness May Be a Useful Biomarker in Determining Early Cardiovascular Risk in Mild Autonomic Cortisol Hypersecretion

open access: yes
Objective: This study aimed to assess the cardiovascular risk in patients with mild autonomous cortisol hypersecretion (MACS). To this end, the suitability of carotid intima–media thickness (cIMT) as a surrogate biomarker was evaluated.

Carotid plaque and intima-media thickness and the incidence of ischemic events in patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease

open access: yes, 2011
We aimed to evaluate whether carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) or the presence of plaque can confer additional predictive value of future cardiovascular (CV) ischemic events in patients with pre-existing atherosclerotic vascular disease.

Hormone therapy (HT) in women with premature ovarian insufficiency or early menopause: Time to think of a new paradigm for healthy aging. A joint FIGO and IMS position paper

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 26-47, October 2026.
Abstract Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and early menopause (EM) affect millions of women worldwide. Compared with normal menopause, they confer a longer duration of estrogen deficiency and are associated not only with a shorter lifespan, but with a reduced healthspan, owing to an increased risk of cardiovascular, skeletal, cognitive and ...
