ABSTRACT Background Ischemic stroke, a major cause of mortality and long‐term disability, results from the abrupt cessation of cerebral blood flow due to vascular occlusion or rupture. Icosapent Ethyl (EPA‐EE), approved for hypertriglyceridemia, has anti‐inflammatory and antithrombotic properties that may lessen ischemic damage.

ContextPrevious studies on the association between thyroid function and carotid plaque have shown contradictory results, which may be attributable to the sensitivity to thyroid hormone indices.

Modern Management of Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis: A Meta‐Analysis of CREST‐2, SPACE‐2, and ECST‐2
ABSTRACT Background Recent randomized trials (CREST‐2, SPACE‐2, and ECST‐2) have compared carotid revascularization (carotid endarterectomy [CEA] or carotid artery stenting [CAS]) plus contemporary medical therapy (CMT) versus CMT alone in asymptomatic carotid stenosis.

USP5 Stabilizes TGFBR1 to Drive Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Senescence and Atherosclerosis
This study reveals that USP5 drives vascular smooth muscle cell senescence and atherosclerosis by stabilizing TGFBR1, suppressing IDH2, and promoting glycolytic reprogramming, identifying the USP5‐TGFBR1‐IDH2 axis as a potential therapeutic target. ABSTRACT Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) senescence contributes importantly to atherosclerotic plaque ...

CuPB@HA is a CD44‐associated, plaque‐targeted nanozyme that alleviates oxidative stress, inflammation, and lipid accumulation in macrophages. By reducing CD36‐dependent lipid uptake and promoting ABCA1/ABCG1‐mediated cholesterol handling, it improves macrophage function, preferentially accumulates in atherosclerotic lesions, reduces plaque burden, and ...

Can Carotid Plaque Predict Coronary Plaque?
Atherothrombotic occlusive vascular disease is a leading cause of acute cardiovascular events (acute coronary syndromes, sudden death, and ischemic stroke). Therapeutic lifestyle modification, medical therapy to control risk factors, and, in selected cases, revascularization by percutaneous ...

The unstable carotid plaque. [PDF]
However, neurologic outcome correlated highly with acute local changes in large, severely stenosing, unstable plaques, and a correlation also exists with progression or regression, possibly reflecting plaque instability.

A Threshold Study of Carotid Plaque Risk in Postmenopausal Middle-aged Women with Normal Homocysteine [PDF]
Background Carotid plaque is an important early predictive signal of clinical carotid atherosclerosis, the association between homocysteine (Hcy) and carotid plaque is well recognized, however, the correlation between Hcy and carotid plaque in ...
