Cerebral Embolic Protection Devices (CEPDs) During Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI): A Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 4, April 2026.
This meta‐analysis of eight RCTs (n = 11,589) demonstrates that the routine use of cerebral embolic protection devices during TAVI does not significantly reduce the risk of overall, disabling, or non‐disabling stroke, nor does it confer a mortality benefit.

Cystatin B Attenuates Cerebral Ischemia Reperfusion Injury by Inhibiting the JAK2/STAT3 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
Using experimental models of stroke, we demonstrate that Cystatin B (CSTB) alleviates brain injury following cerebral ischemia reperfusion. This protection is mediated by inhibiting the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, which reduces neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis. Our findings highlight CSTB as a promising therapeutic target for ischemic stroke.

Glycemic Status and Effect of Immediate Intensive Statin on Mild Ischemic Stroke: A Subgroup Analysis of the INSPIRES Trial

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
Immediate‐intensive statin improves functional outcomes in non‐diabetic stroke patients: glycemic status modulates intensive statin treatment response. Early intensive statin therapy should be prioritized in stroke patients without diabetes, whereas alternative strategies may be needed for long‐standing T2DM to optimize functional recovery.

A Nomogram Based on the Castelli Risk Index for Predicting Prognosis in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Cohort Study

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Composite lipid indices are closely related to the risk and poor prognosis of diseases. However, there are no studies on the prognostic value of Castelli's risk indices‐I and II (CRI‐I, CRI‐II) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
