Return-to-Work After Carpal Tunnel Release Across Surgical Techniques: A Narrative Review

open access: yesMedicina
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most common upper-limb entrapment neuropathy and remains a major contributor of work-related disability. While Carpal Tunnel Release (CTR) reliably improves symptoms, functional recovery is less consistently reported ...

Assessment‐driven learning: Using a redesigned table test in anatomy lab—Pilot study

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The table test is a formative, group‐based assessment conducted during cadaveric dissection. The anatomy faculty at Carle Illinois College of Medicine modified its structure (redesigned table test) to include individual accountability (one question per student) and a collaborative clinical application question.

Human carpal ligament recruitment and three‐dimensional carpal motion

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, 1991
AbstractIn five fresh human cadaver wrist joints six carpal ligaments and seven carpal bones were marked with small, radio‐opaque pellets. Using a roentgenstereophotogrammetric measuring system, the ligamentous length changes and the kinematics of carpal bones were determined in different flexion and deviation positions of the hand.

Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction Through a Mini‐Invasive Approach

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Posterolateral rotatory instability is the most common form of elbow instability, secondary to valgus, supination, and axial loading in elbow extension. The lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) is the primary restraint to posterolateral rotatory instability and multiple techniques of repair and reconstruction of the LUCL have been reported

Suture Augmented Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction: A Detailed Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Suture augmentation is frequently being used for medial ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) repair and many surgeons now augment UCL reconstructions with a high strength suture. This article and video describe the technique of suture augmented UCL reconstruction.

Discovering an Anatomic Variant of the Palmaris Profundus during Open Carpal Tunnel Release

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2018
Summary:. A 46-year-old female presented after 3 years of steadily increasing numbness in her hands bilaterally with worse symptoms in her right hand. She reported nighttime paresthesia and exacerbation of her symptoms while writing, typing, and driving.

New Insights Into the Anconeus Epitrochlearis Muscle and Its Relationship to the Ulnar Nerve: Anatomical Study

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ulnar neuropathy due to compression at the cubital tunnel is common. However, our understanding of the relationships between this type of nerve compression and the variant anconeus epitrochlearis muscle (AEM) is poorly understood. Therefore, the present anatomical study was performed to better elucidate these relationships.

Donor‐To‐Recipient Mean Axonal Count Ratios of Upper Limb Nerves Used in Nerve Transfer Surgery: A Systematic Review of Histomorphometric Cadaveric Studies

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nerve transfer surgery may be performed to restore sensorimotor function following peripheral nerve trauma or dysfunction. There is biological plausibility and limited correlative evidence that donor‐to‐recipient axon count ratios may impact functional outcomes.

Three‐dimensional observation of the muscle–tendon integration process in mouse embryos

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Muscle–tendon integration is a crucial step in the morphogenesis of the vertebrate locomotion system. As the limb muscle and tendon progenitor cells derive from distinct embryonic origin, their integration requires precise mutual positioning.

Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy: Literature review and red‐flag symptom clusters for each cardiology specialty

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 955-967, April 2025.
Abstract Wild‐type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTRwt‐CM) is a progressive and infiltrative cardiac disorder that may cause fatal consequences if left untreated. The estimated survival time from diagnosis is approximately 3–6 years. Because of the non‐specificity of initial symptom manifestation and insufficient awareness among treating ...
