The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1999Primary neoplasms of the carpal bones are rare. We found 44 primary tumors of the carpal bones of 26,800 bone neoplasms (prevalence, 0.16%). Original histologic slides and original radiographs were reviewed in 36 and 29 cases, respectively.

Osteoid osteoma of the carpal bones
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 2001Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor that rarely localizes in the hand or the carpal bones. We report two cases of osteoid osteoma localized in two different carpal bones. Unremitting wrist pain was a major clinical symptom. Surgical treatment including excision of the nidus was dramatically curative.
