Sensory Nerve Conduction Amplitudes and Z‐Compounds Depend on Body Mass Index in Overweight and Obese Individuals

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 71, Issue 6, Page 1052-1062, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims The association between body mass index (BMI) and nerve conduction study (NCS) amplitudes has not been adequately studied in overweight and obese subjects. Our aim was to estimate the impact of high BMI on NCS amplitudes and NCS summary measures.

Clinical and Electrophysiological Characterization of Diabetic Neuropathy in a Sub‐Saharan African Cohort

open access: yesJournal of the Peripheral Nervous System, Volume 30, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is the most frequent complication of diabetes mellitus, contributing to increased morbidity and mortality. Previous clinical studies on DN in sub‐Saharan Africa (sSA) have used purely clinical approaches, potentially underestimating the true magnitude of this disease. This study was designed to determine the

Presentation and Outcomes of Localized Immunoglobulin Light Chain Amyloidosis: 14‐Year Experience of an Academic Center

open access: yesHematological Oncology, Volume 43, Issue 3, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Localized light chain amyloidosis (loc‐AL) is a rare disorder characterized by localized deposition of misfolded AL fibrils. There are limited data on patterns of disease presentation and long‐term outcomes. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed 146 patients with loc‐AL at our institution between January 1, 2010, and March 1, 2024.

Spinal amyloid deposits are common among older patients undergoing spinal stenosis decompression surgery

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 3, Page 222-230, May 2025.
In this report, we demonstrate that spinal stenosis is associated with amyloid deposits in the spine. We further demonstrate that amyloid deposits are present not only in the ligamentum flavum but also in the disc tissue. We subsequently examined patients for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy and found no evidence in patients tested.

Ulnar Neuropathy at the Wrist in a Patient with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome after Open Carpal Tunnel Release [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ulnar neuropathy at the wrist is rarely reported as complications of carpal tunnel release. Since it can sometimes be confused with recurrent median neuropathy at the wrist or ulnar neuropathy at the elbow, an electrodiagnostic study is useful for ...

Theory of deflagration and fronts of tunneling in molecular magnets [PDF]

open access: yesin "Molecular Magnets" (Springer), J. Bartolome, F. Luis, J. Fernandez (editors) (2013), 2012
Decay of metastable states in molecular magnets (MM) leads to energy release that results in temperature increase that, in turn, positively affects the decay rate. This is the mechanism of recently discovered magnetic deflagration that is similar to regular chemical burning and can propagate in a form of burning fronts in long MM crystals.

Mini Open Carpal Tunnel Release(A New Technique with Knife Light System)

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2011
Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy in the upper extremity and it develops due to unusual pressure on the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. In this randomized clinical trial, mini open carpal tunnel release(

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with Wrist Trigger Caused by Hypertrophied Lumbrical Muscle and Tenosynovitis

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2015
We present a case of carpal tunnel syndrome involving wrist trigger caused by a hypertrophied lumbrical muscle with flexor synovitis. The case was a 40-year-old male heavy manual worker complaining of numbness and pain in the median nerve area. On active
