Recurrent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Hand Clinics, 2013
Carpal tunnel release is a common procedure with a high rate of alleviating the patient's symptoms. The incidence of recurrent or persistent carpal tunnel syndrome is rare, although likely underestimated. Complaints of worsening numbness, tingling, or weakness should alert the physician to possible nerve injury and need for early exploration.

Carpal tunnel syndrome.

Pain practice : the official journal of World Institute of Pain, 2011
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common disorder. In the majority of cases, patients with CTS can be diagnosed by means of appropriate history taking. Nerve conduction examination of the nervus medianus is the most important additional diagnostic test and is the best predictor of symptom severity and functional status in idiopathic CTS.

ACUTE CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Hand Clinics, 1998
Although the carpal tunnel is open at both ends, it has the physiologic properties of a closed compartment bounded by synovium proximally and distally. When the intracarpal canal interstitial pressure rises above a critical threshold pressure, capillary blood flow is reduced below the level required for median nerve viability.

Acute Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2008
Carpal tunnel syndrome is considered the most common of the chronic compressive neuropathies. Its cause is generally unknown. Acute carpal tunnel syndrome, which is much less common, is more often directly related to fractures and fracture-dislocations about the wrist, hemorrhagic conditions, and vascular disorders involving the wrist.

Recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome

Hand Clinics, 2002
Persistent or recurrent symptoms following carpal tunnel release surgery are an infrequent but challenging clinical problem. A thorough evaluation of these patients is mandatory and must confirm the accuracy of the original diagnosis and rule out the presence of concurrent conditions or disorders that may cause persistent symptoms that mimic carpal ...

DIALYSIS CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Orthopedics, 1978
ABSTRACT: Twelve carpal tunnel releases were performed in eight out of ten dialysis patients who developed progressive median and ulnar nerve compartment syndromes following side (artery)-toend (vein) f istulae required for vascular access, out of a total population of between 200 and 250 patients (4 to 5%).
