From a leaf gall described by Rubsaamen (1889) on Carpinus betulus (Houard, 1908, Nr. 1549) the midges were examined and described with the name Zygiobia ruebsaameni n. sp. The different classifications of this gall and the supposed causal organisms are summarized. Differentiating features for Z. carpini (F. Low) and Z. ruebsaameni n. sp. are given.
