ULNAR DISLOCATION OF FIFTH CARPOMETACARPAL JOINT
Hand Surgery, 2005Carpometacarpal dislocations may be dorsal, volar or divergent type but most are dorsal with involvement of 4th and 5th metacarpal. We are reporting first case of ulnar type of unilateral dislocation of 5th carpometacarpal joint.

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2001
A case of divergent dislocation between the second metacarpal and the three ulnar metacarpals is presented. Severe edema, fragments of the trapezoid, and interposed volar ligaments prevented successful closed reduction. Open reduction enabled restoration of the carpometacarpal complex with excellent recovery of hand function.

First Carpometacarpal Joint Instability: Dorsal Ligament Reconstruction
Techniques in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery, 2020The first carpometacarpal (CMC-I) joint has an elaborate ligamentous support. Recent evidence has demonstrated that the dorsal ligament group is imperative for joint stability and that CMC-I joint instability may occur as a consequence of trauma and ligamentous laxity, and other conditions, with possible CMC-I subluxation and the development of ...

Hand Clinics, 2008
Basal joint arthritis is a common condition, primarily affecting postmenopausal women. Persistent pain and functional impairment despite conservative treatment are indications for operative intervention. Ligament reconstruction and tendon interposition (LRTI) arthroplasty is one of the most popular and time-tested operations to treat metacarpal ...

CARPOMETACARPAL JOINT INJURIES OF THE FINGERS
Hand Clinics, 1992Injuries to the carpometacarpal joints are uncommon and are sometimes overlooked on initial radiographs. Their recognition depends on a careful physical and radiographic examination that may require trispiral tomograms and CT scans. Most injuries can be treated successfully by closed reduction and percutaneous fixation of the joint(s) using Kirschner ...

Multiple volar carpometacarpal joint dislocation
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1978Traumatic dislocation of the medial four carpometacarpal joints in a child is an unusual injury. Descriptions of this injury in the literature have been reviewed and a case is presented to illustrate the pertinent anatomy, biomechanical aspects, and details of management.

Arthritis of the Carpometacarpal Joint
2019Osteoarthritis of the carpometacarpal (CMC) joint of the thumb is very common due to inherent wide range of motion of the joint. As high compressive and shear forces occur across the thumb CMC joint during pinch motion, ligament instability can lead to the subsequent development of arthritic changes.
