A portable, sensorized, and controlled dexterous thumb‐enhanced glove helps stroke survivors swipe phones, twist caps, and perform other tasks. It is based on a powerful continuously, segmented origami dual chamber actuator to achieve active thumb CMC and MCP joint assistance and passively extend the IP joint.

Innovative surgical technique for reconstruction of metacarpal in giant cell tumor – A case report
Background: Giant cell tumor or Osteoclastoma is a rare tumor of bones accounting for less than 5% of all the primary bone tumors. It is extremely rare in small bones of hand. Even in hand, metacarpals are less commonly involved as compared to phalanges.

Endoscopic Resection of Carpometacarpal Boss and Synovectomy of the Second Carpometacarpal Joint [PDF]
Abstract Carpometacarpal boss is a symptomatic bony prominence on the dorsal surface of the wrist at the base of the second and/or third metacarpal. Wedge excision of the carpometacarpal boss is indicated if conservative treatment fails to relieve the symptoms. Complications of wedge resection

Evolutionary morphology of the haplorhine hamate
Abstract Primates adopt a variety of hand postures during an impressive diversity of locomotor and manipulative behaviors. Morphological research has found that elements of the hand skeleton, such as the hamate, hold key information for inferring hand use and locomotor kinematics in extinct species.

Ligamentous constraint of the first carpometacarpal joint
To examine the role of the ligaments in maintaining stability of the first carpometacarpal (CMC) joint, a sequential ligament sectioning study of sixteen specimens was performed. While a small compressive force was maintained, loads were applied to displace each specimen in four directions - volar, dorsal, radial, and ulnar.

Objective Regular imaging by conventional radiography to assess for joint damage is a cornerstone in the management of rheumatoid arthritis. Scoring systems to quantify such damage, such as the widely used Sharp/van der Heijde (SvdH) score, are limited by the requirement of time and experienced staff as well as intra‐ and interrater variability.
