Ecotourism, infrastructures, and the drama of sovereignty on a border island
Abstract The Ruta 30 scenic road project in Argentine Tierra del Fuego has encountered significant resistance. In this article, we analyze a public hearing convened to assess the road's impacts as an event illuminating the daily dynamics of the region.

This article investigates, through the theory of social construction and policy design, the feedforward effects of labeling on policy conflicts. It argues that such conflicts escalate when policymakers distinguish between more and less deserving and more and less powerful segments of the population.

Seasonal Effect on the Biological Activities of Litsea glaucescens Kunth Extracts
This study shows the seasonal effect on the antioxidant, antiproliferative, and antimicrobial activities of L. glaucescens Kunth (LG) leaves extracts. Their antioxidant activity was evaluated through the DPPH, FRAP, and ORAC assays. Their phenolic content (PC) was determined by means of the Folin‐Ciocalteu method, and the main phenolic compounds were ...

Low‐Cost Monitoring System of Sensors for Evaluating Dynamic Solicitations of Semitrailer Structure
Analysis of the fatigue life of a semitrailer structure necessitates identification of the loads and dynamic solicitations in the structure. These forces can be introduced in computer simulation software (multibody + finite element) for analysing the response of different design solutions to them.

The effect of carbon source, carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio, and limitation in nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and Fe) on extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) synthesis by the marine bacterium Saccharophagus degradans was studied. This strain was able to grow in mineral medium and produce EPS with different efficiency according to the C source used (g ...

Cholesterol control is fundamental for prevention of cardiovascular disorders. In this work, the hypocholesterolemic activity of an aqueous Opuntia ficus-indica extract (AOE) was tested in triton‐induced mice. The inhibitory activity on pancreatic lipase enzyme was evaluated in vitro by the same extract.

Insecticidal activity of essential oil extracted from Morinda lucida was tested on pulse beetle Callosobruchus maculatus, which is a pest that causes serious damage to several pulses. The insecticidal activity was compared with two pesticides, Phostoxin and Primo‐ban‐20. 120 mixed sex adult C. maculatus were introduced, along with 30 g of cowpeas. Four

Wildlife mortality risk posed by high and low traffic roads
Abstract Wildlife mortality due to collisions with vehicles (roadkill) is one of the predominant negative effects exerted by roads on many wildlife species. Reducing roadkill is therefore a major component of wildlife conservation. Roadkill is affected by various factors, including road attributes and traffic volume.

Green Synthesis of Stable Sub‐Nano Silver Clusters with Potential against Cancer
Sub‐nano‐sized Ag‐clusters represent an intermediate class between isolated atoms and nanoparticles, and they can possess new, unexpected properties differing from bulk and nano‐sized particles. A simple, fast, one‐step, cost‐effective protocol was revealed to prepare stable sub‐nano‐sized Ag‐clusters with green synthesis.
