Water Carriers Versus Nectar Carriers
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1926Water-carriers may be distinguished from nectar-carriers by gently pressing on the abdomen of the loaded bee while it is held fast on a sheet of filter paper. If the disgorged honey-sac contents is nectar, a translucent spot will be produced on the filter paper; whereas, if it is only water, no such spot will remain upon drying.

Femtosecond Carrier-Carrier Interaction in GaAs
Eighth International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena, 1992Despite recent femtosecond measurements using pump-probe [1], photon echo [2], and photoluminescence [3], and theoretical studies [3,4] of screening, carrier-carrier scattering, such as electron-hole and electron-plasmon interactions, is still not well understood. We have made a series of femtosecond spectroscopic measurements on intrinsic, n-type, and

Electrical Engineering, 1933
In order to meet future demands for high grade and economical circuits in cables, considerable carrier development work has been done which has included an extensive experimental installation on a 25-mile loop of underground cable. Sufficient pairs were provided in the cable and repeaters were installed to set up nine carrier telephone circuits 850 ...

Influence of the carrier distribution on carrier-carrier scattering in GaAs
Physical Review B, 1995Hot electrons in GaAs in the presence of a highly nonequilibrium plasma generated by a 150-fs laser pulse are shown to have an energy-loss rate to the plasma that is two to four times higher than a hot electron in the presence of a cooler, thermalized plasma of the same density.

Carriers underway [Aircraft carriers design]
Engineering & Technology, 2009In this paper, the UK's new aircraft carriers are taking shape in an artificial world that looks out over the sea high above Portsmouth, England. The work being done at the QE Class MS Integration facility at Portsdown Technology Park will make sure that the new Queen Elizabeth (QE) Class Aircraft Carriers, currently under construction in shipyards ...

Carrier-Carrier Interactions and Screening
1980We shall be concerned with the role of intercarrier scattering in hot carrier systems. The intercarrier scattering within a band acts to drive the carriers towards a displaced Maxwellian distribution. In so doing it alters both the energy distribution and the angular distribution in momentum space.
