Fabrication and Evaluation of Isomalt-Based Microfibers as Drug Carrier Systems
Background/Objectives: The melt-spinning process has seen limited application in the pharmaceutical industry. However, nano- and microfibrous structures show significant potential for novel drug delivery systems, due to their high specific surface area ...

Joint Channel, Carrier-Frequency-Offset and Noise-Variance Estimation for OFDM Systems Based on Expectation Maximization [PDF]
In this paper, a joint channel, carrier-frequency-offset (CFO) and noise-variance estimation scheme is proposed for OFDM systems which is based on Expectation and Maximization (EM) algorithm.

Serial Search Based Initial Code Acquisition in the Multiple Transmit/Receive Antenna Aided Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA Downlink [PDF]
Initial code acquisition schemes designed for the multiple transmit/receive antenna aided Multi-Carrier (MC)-DS-CDMA downlink are analysed, when communicating over uncorrelated Rayleigh channels.

Channel and noise variance estimation and tracking algorithms for unique-word based single-carrier systems [PDF]
Single-carrier (SC) wireless communication systems generally require knowledge of the channel and the variance of the additive noise process to equalize a received message.

On the Pilot Carrier Placement in Multicarrier-Based Systems [PDF]
In traditional multicarrier systems, the pilot carriers used to estimate the channel are placed as uniform as possible over the bandwidth. However, with the raise of cognitive radio systems, where the multicarrier system is used by the secondary users, parts of the bandwidth are not available for transmission as primary users are active in these bands.

Carrier-Based Drug Delivery System for Treatment of Acne [PDF]
Approximately 95% of the population suffers at some point in their lifetime from acne vulgaris. Acne is a multifactorial disease of the pilosebaceous unit. This inflammatory skin disorder is most common in adolescents but also affects neonates, prepubescent children, and adults.

Optimal training sequences for channel estimation in cyclic-prefix-based single-carrier systems with transmit diversity [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate a new class of training sequences that are optimal for least squares (LS) channel estimation in systems employing transmit diversity and single-carrier (SC) modulation with a cyclic prefix (CP) extension.

The Dual Carrier ABSK System Based on a FIR Bandpass Filter [PDF]
The special impacting filter (SIF) with IIR structure has been used to demodulate ABSK signals. The key points of SIF, including the resonance circuit’s high Q value and the “slope-phase discrimination” character of the filter sideband, are demonstrated in the paper.
