Safety-Guaranteed Go-Around Decision Framework Based on Funnel for Automatic Carrier Landing Systems

open access: yesAerospace
Existing go-around decision methods for Automatic Carrier Landing Systems (ACLSs) are mainly based on altitude deviation. The safe region implied by these methods is therefore effectively single-dimensional, which can lead to overly conservative and ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Development and trends of airborne early warning systems for aircraft carrier groups

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
Since the emergence of carrier-based airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft as a new aircraft category in response to the maritime air defense requirements during the later stages of World War II, these aircraft have rapidly evolved into a core node of ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

FMCSA Safety Program Effectiveness Measurement: Carrier Intervention Effectiveness Model (CIEM), Version 1.3 Report for Fiscal Year 2019 Interventions [PDF]

open access: yes
693JJ418N000045The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), in cooperation with the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe), uses a quantitative model called the Carrier Intervention Effectiveness Model (CIEM) to measure ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A Simple Carrier-Based Modulation for the SVM of the Matrix Converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Today, industry has not fully embraced the matrix converter solution. One important reason is its high control complexity. It is therefore relevant to propose a simpler but efficient modulation scheme, similar as three phase voltage source inverter ...

B-spline neural network based single-carrier frequency domain equalisation for Hammerstein channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A practical single-carrier (SC) block transmission with frequency domain equalisation (FDE) system can generally be modelled by the Hammerstein system that includes the nonlinear distortion effects of the high power amplifier (HPA) at transmitter.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
