Abstract The family Piophilidae is of significant forensic importance due to its association with late‐stage decomposition; however, the Korean piophilid fauna remains poorly studied, lacking comprehensive morphological and molecular data. This study reports the first record of the genus Protopiophila Duda from South Korea.

Males are worse mothers: Comparing care patterns in a facultatively caring beetle
Why should biparental care exist if offspring fare just as well when only one parent is present? In the facultatively dependent burying beetle, Nicrophorus vespilloides, manipulating environmental quality reveals that biparental care benefits offspring in form of lower personal immune requirement and parents in term of weight gain.

Assessing Spatiotemporal Side Effects of Diversionary Feeding on Mesopredators
We tested whether diversionary feeding alters the space use, aggregation, or activity patterns of mesopredators using a treatment‐control design with camera traps. Although both species frequently used feeding stations, diversionary feeding did not significantly affect their spatial distribution, aggregation, or temporal behaviour.

Mortality for diatomaceous earth was observed as early as 2 h after exposure with 50% and 90% mortality at 3.5 and 4.6 h (LT50 and LT90, respectively) for Musca domestica. The LT50 and LT90 increased when the size of the fly species increased (M. domestica to Cochliomyia macellaria to Sarcophaga bullata) and increased for all three from 50 to 70 ...
