Genetic engineering for SIT application: a fruit fly‐focused review
Insect Science, EarlyView.Abstract Sterile insect technique (SIT) has become a key component of efficient pest control. Fruit fly pests from the Drosophilidae and Tephritidae families pose a substantial and overwhelmingly increasing threat to the agricultural industry, aggravated by climate change and globalization among other contributors.

Insect Science, EarlyView.Here, we present R‐CQ and KAMY, two computational methods developed for the detection of sex chromosome‐linked sequences. We evaluate their performance on newly generated chromosome‐level assemblies of four important Tephritid pest species: Ceratitis capitata, Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera zonata, and Anastrepha ludens.

Effect of the microbiome on pathogen susceptibility across four Drosophilidae species
Insect Science, EarlyView.Four Drosophilidae species were used to investigate how variation in the host microbiome influences susceptibility to infection. Microbial composition and abundance differed among species and treatments. The effects of microbiome manipulation on host survival were both species‐ and pathogen‐specific.
