Update on Medical Treatments for Essential Tremor: An International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society Evidence‐Based Medicine Review

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The first International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society Evidence‐Based Medicine (MDS‐EBM) review for essential tremor (ET) was published in 2019; since then, the modified Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology was adopted by MDS, and new evidence exists.

On Nearly Balanced Designs for Sensory Trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In sensory experiments, often designs are used that are balanced for carryover effects. It is hoped that this controls for possible carryover effects, like, e.g., a lingering taste of the products. Proper randomization is essential to guarantee the usual

Progress in Defining Blood Biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease Based on Biochemical Mass Spectrometry Platforms

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, EarlyView.
Alzheimer's disease diagnosis relies on costly, invasive positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis, limiting clinical use. This review summarizes a blood‐based biochemical mass spectrometry platform for early Alzheimer's disease (AD) detection, with non‐invasiveness, high sensitivity (fg/mL level), high ...

An integrated social and natural sciences case study for the reuse of organic wastes as soil amendments

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Reusing organic waste materials, such as animal manure, as soil amendments reduces water and fertiliser demand, contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. However, organic wastes may contain contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), posing potential ecosystem and human health risks. Despite the importance of this issue, there is a lack

Residual Effect of Imidazolinone Herbicides on Emergence and Early Development of Forage Species in Rice-Livestock Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Biology
The intensification of rice–livestock systems has encouraged the integration of forage species into rice cultivation. However, the use of imidazolinone-tolerant rice cultivars (imazapyr + imazapic, IMIs), essential for weedy rice control, may hinder the ...

Mesotrione carryover to soybeans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Mesotrione provides excellent residual control and breaks down readily in the soil provided there is sufficient moisture. Another important consideration is the rate of application, the timing of application, and soil characteristics likely influences ...

Fuzzy postprocessing of seasonal climate forecasts for semiarid river basins

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Meteorological forecasts from AI‐based fuzzy rule‐based system (FRB) are compared to linear scaling (LS) and quantile mapping (QM). Seasonal forecasts from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) are considered. Results show that the highest skill is achieved for the FRB approach.

Deciphering Branched Galactomannan Structures via Multistage Ion Mobility MS and MSn Fragmentation (Multistage IMSn)

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale Hemicelluloses are abundant carbohydrate components in plant cell walls. They play a crucial structural role in binding cellulose microfibrils, in addition to other biological functions. Their high structural variability directly influences their biological properties, making it important to establish a structure–function ...
