Carving

Sportverletzung · Sportschaden, 1997
Using skis with a deep sidecut (as carving skis have it) it's not necessary to learn a new techniques. Different carving skis are developed for all target groups. They simplify the steering of turns on the ski-edge, but the skier needs some more muscle-effort as with usual skis.

Carve in, carve out: a bimodal carving through voxelization and functional partitioning

The Visual Computer, 2018
We propose in this paper a novel technique for pattern-guided carving on an orientable 2-manifold surface. Its novelty lies in processing the surface in voxel space using certain theories and deductions of digital geometry. The carving pipeline designed by us is bimodal in nature, as it can generate both ‘negative’ and ‘positive’ carvings by carve in ...

Stream carving: An adaptive seam carving algorithm

2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010
We propose a new content-aware image resizing scheme, Stream Carving, which is based on the well-known seam carving method. Our algorithm may introduce larger seams in the retargeted image, i.e. seams with a width larger than one pixel, that we call “streams”. The resulting holes are then recovered using an inpainting method.

Carving dental restorations

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1978
The finishing of dental restorations is accomplished most adequately when carving, rotary, and finishing instruments are designed and used for maximum surface contact on natural teeth. General considerations and a detailed technique for carving and contouring dental restorations with these instruments have been described and illustrated.

Carving Primitivism

This chapter analyzes how Agnaldo Manuel dos Santos (Mar Grande, 1926—Salvador, 1962) consciously created his works from visual references and artistic ideas to which he gained access through the mediation of several agents in the Brazilian art world in Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, between the late 1940s and early 1960s.
