Modulation of antibiotic activity by the hydroalcoholic extract from leaves of Caryocar coriaceum WITTM

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2017
The aim of this study was to identify the presence of tannins, phenols and flavonoids on the hydroalcoholic extract of Caryocar coriaceum leaves (HECCL) and to determine the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of this extract. The extract was tested alone (1024–1 μg/mL) or associated (MIC/8) with several antibiotics in order to identify any ...

Antibacterial Properties of Pequi Pulp Oil (Caryocar coriaceum – WITTM.)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2011
Pequi fruits have a high nutritional value, and they are rich in protein and vitamins. This work reports the results of the chemical characterization and antibacterial activity of “pequi” fruit pulp oil of Caryocar coriaceum (Wittm). Chemical composition was assessed by GLC and the antibacterial activity was assayed by the disk diffusion method.

Composition of Lipids of Piqui (Caryocar coriaceum Wittm.) Seed and Pulp Oil

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1989
Abstract The lipid composition of Piqui (Caryocar coriaceum) seed oil and pulp oil was analyzed and found to contain triacylglycerols (95.1/95.3%) as major components followed by free fatty acids (1.7/1.6%), diacylglycerols (1.6/1.5%), squalene (0.3/0.3%) and monoacylglycerols (0.1/0.1%). Phospholipids were found only in seed oil (0.2%).
