Antibacterial Properties of Pequi Pulp Oil (Caryocar coriaceum – WITTM.)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2011
Pequi fruits have a high nutritional value, and they are rich in protein and vitamins. This work reports the results of the chemical characterization and antibacterial activity of “pequi” fruit pulp oil of Caryocar coriaceum (Wittm). Chemical composition was assessed by GLC and the antibacterial activity was assayed by the disk diffusion method.

Morphobiometry and Ecophysiology of Caryocar coriaceum Wittm. (Pequi) in Cerrado Areas of Northeast Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Agriculture International, 2019
Many studies have reported that native plant species can contribute to ensuring food security in the world. Among the Brazilian species, the Caryocar coriaceum has a high utility value for the communities in Northeast Brazil but it is under threat due to the degradation of the Cerrado savannah.

Pequi-Derived Carbon Dots as a Fluorescence Quenching Sensor for Sensitive Detection of Fe3+ Ions [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research
This study presents the pequi (Caryocar coriaceum) as a new biomass source for carbon dots synthesis. The pequi almond, usually discarded, was used as the biomass precursor in one-step hydrothermal green synthesis of carbon dots. Pequi-based carbon dots (

Mathematical modeling of pequi pulp drying and effective diffusivity determination

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental
The aim of this work was to study the drying kinetics of pequi pulp by convective drying at different conditions of temperature (50, 60, 70 and 80 °C) and thickness (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 cm) at the air speed of 1.0 m s-1, with no addition of adjuvant.
