Improved Cascade Control Structure and Controller Design
Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006In conventional single feedback control, the corrective action for disturbances does not begin until the controlled variable deviates from the set point. In this case, a cascade control strategy can be used to improve the performance of a control system particularly in the presence of disturbances.

Enhanced Control with a General Cascade Control Structure
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2002In this paper, a general cascade control structure is proposed to handle stable, integrating, and unstable processes for cascade control systems. With the structure, a IMC controller is derived to get a desired closed-loop response and converted to a conventional PID controller.

Improved Cascade Control Structure for Controlling Unstable and Integrating Processes
Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006Cascade control is an alternative to conventional single feedback control to improve the performance of a control system particularly in the presence of disturbances. However, so far published papers on cascade control strategies are for control of stable processes.

Advanced Control Structures in Multivariable Cascade
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1998Abstract The issues related to the use of cascade structures in multivariable controllers are addressed in this paper. An advanced structure, which makes use of a control scheme belonging to the IMC family is proposed. This control structure, which extends to the multivariable case the one of Semino and Brambilla (1996), is applied to a distillation ...

A cascade structure approach to control reconfiguration
2013 Conference on Control and Fault-Tolerant Systems (SysTol), 2013Fault tolerant control (FTC) seeks to avoid the deterioration of the system at the time that there is a change of one or more parameters outside the limits of tolerance. There is in the literature a set of approaches based on the idea of tracking the nominal trajectory, which have been proved to be effective.

An Efficient Structure for Parallel Cascade Control
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1996A control structure capable of avoiding interactions between the two loops of a parallel cascade system is developed. A conventional controller is used in the inner loop and an IMC controller is inserted in the outer loop in order to reject only the effects of the perturbations that are not taken care of by the inner controller.

Variable Cascade Control Structure for Tubular Reactors
Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2015AbstractThe application of a variable control structure for tubular reactors, based on multiple temperature measurements, is explored. The proposed structure allows the controller to adapt to temperature error variations along the tubular reactor. Controllers can be designed from simple input‐output first‐order dynamical models obtained from step ...

Automatic tuning of cascade structure CNC controllers
6th International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control Proceedings, 2000Proposes a method for the automatic tuning of cascade structure CNC controllers. The design takes into account constraints on the system such as delays induced by numerical control effects and elasticity of bodies. The robustness of the algorithm is ensured by requiring minimal stability margins.

Cascade Reconfiguration Structures in Fault Tolerant Control
2017The paper considers the problem of control reconfiguration to retain fault tolerance in linear continuous-time systems. The full state control law is combined with the static output compensation for the reference specification in the so called cascade reconfiguration structure.

Research on Control and Structure of the Cascaded Multilevel Inverters
2011 3rd International Workshop on Intelligent Systems and Applications, 2011The cascade multilevel inverter can reduce the voltage stress of the power switches and output filter inductance, also it is easy to modularize and some phase voltages are redundant, so it is very suitable for high voltage applications. In this paper a multi-level cascaded DC/AC converter with on single DC power source are presented and a practical ...
