An Adaptive Backstepping Sliding-Mode Control for Improving Position Tracking of a Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor With a Nonlinear Disturbance Observer

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
To provide reliable position control for a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) under conditions of lumped disturbances such as external load torque fluctuation and system parameter variation, an adaptive backstepping sliding-mode control (ABSMC ...

Feedforward Control of Electrical Drives - Rules and Limits

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2011
Nowadays, there are several application in the field of position controlled electric drives, such as high speed cutting, where traditional cascade control structures provide insufficient accuracy.

Implementation of cascade type PIS compensator for pneumatic anti-vibration apparatuses

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
This paper considers the implementation of a cascade type PIS compensator for the pneumatic anti-vibration apparatuses (AVA) control system. In precedence research the parallel type PIS compensator was used.

Induction Motor Improved Vector Control Using Predictive and Model-Free Algorithms Together with Homotopy-Based Feedback Linearization

open access: yesEnergies
Vector control of an induction machine (IM) is typically performed by using cascade control structures with conventional linear proportional–integral (PI) controllers, the inner loop being designed for current control and the outer loop for rotor flux ...

Robust Fractional-Order PI/PD Controllers for a Cascade Control Structure of Servo Systems

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In this paper, a cascade control structure is suggested to control servo systems that normally include a servo motor in coupling with two kinds of mechanism elements, a translational or rotational movement.

Trophic cascades induced by lobster fishing are not ubiquitous in southern California kelp forests. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Fishing can trigger trophic cascades that alter community structure and dynamics and thus modify ecosystem attributes. We combined ecological data of sea urchin and macroalgal abundance with fishery data of spiny lobster (Panulirus interruptus) landings ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
