Identification and Engineering of Novel N‐Methyltransferases

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 7, April 4, 2025.
In this work, we employed a fluorescence‐based high‐throughput assay to accelerate the discovery, characterization, and engineering of novel N‐methyltransferases (NMTs). Due to their broad substrate scope and outstanding selectivity, MTs have potential for industrial applications.

The European Union summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food in 2022–2023

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract This report presents the main findings of the 2022–2023 harmonised antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring in Salmonella spp., Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli from humans and food‐producing animals (broilers, laying hens and fattening turkeys, fattening pigs and cattle under 1 year of age) and derived meat.

Assessment of Acute Kidney Injury using MRI

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 61, Issue 1, Page 25-41, January 2025.
There has been growing interest in using quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to describe and understand the pathophysiology of acute kidney injury (AKI). The ability to assess kidney blood flow, perfusion, oxygenation, and changes in tissue microstructure at repeated timepoints is hugely appealing, as this offers new possibilities to describe

Aluminum Surface Defect Detection Method Based on DAS‐YOLO Network

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper focuses on the issue of aluminum defect detection in industrial production, which requires meeting industrial inspection demands and adapting to data that contains small‐scale defects and large variations in defect size. We introduced improvements based on the original YOLOv8 model.

The alignment of policy and practice for the career-long professional learning of teachers in Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes
In Scotland, as elsewhere, it is generally recognised that the quality of teaching is arguably the most important factor in children’s learning, and therefore on the overall performance of the education system.

Chemo‐Enzymatic Depolymerization of Functionalized Low‐Molecular‐Weight Polyethylene

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 63, Issue 50, December 9, 2024.
A chemo‐enzymatic concept is described for the depolymerization of low molecular weight polyethylene. Initial treatment with mCPBA and ultrasonication is followed by the key steps, a four‐enzyme cascade reaction yielding various functionalized medium‐chain products.

Switched-current filtering systems: design, synthesis and software development [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Allpass filters are commonly employed in many applications to perform group delay equalisation in the passband. They are non-minimum phase by definition and are characterised by poles and zeros in mirror-image symmetry. SI allpass filters of both cascade

β,β‐Disubstituted Alkan‐2‐ones from Propargylic Alcohols Combining a Meyer‐Schuster Rearrangement and Asymmetric Alkene Bioreduction

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 366, Issue 22, Page 4737-4746, November 19, 2024.
Abstract The combination of a gold(I) N‐heterocyclic carbene complex and an ene‐reductase (ERED) has made possible the synthesis of enantiopure β,β‐disubstituted ketones in a one‐pot concurrent approach. The protocol consists of the Meyer‐Schuster rearrangement of racemic propargylic tertiary alcohols using [1,3‐bis(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)imidazol‐2 ...

Feasible mechanisms and therapeutic potential of food probiotics to mitigate diabetes‐associated cancers: A comprehensive review and in silico validation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 1476-1511, July 2024.
The risk factors and challenges of treating diabetes mellitus (DM)‐associated cancer were discussed. Probiotic adjuvant therapies and their role in curing DM‐associated cancers were reviewed. In silico analysis revealed the promising role of IGF hub genes in DM‐linked cancers.
