Assessment of Gibbs Free Energy Calculation in PI‐Controlled Heating

For description and control of chemical processes in lab or industry thermodynamic variable Gibbs free energy provides opportunity to compare and interpret phenomena, even on a quantitative level. In a case study for PI‐controlled heating, impacts on its limits from control delay until parameter quantization are highlighted and assessed.

Techno‐Economic Analysis of Methanol Production From Steel Mill Gases

A techno‐economic analysis for the synthesis of methanol from steel mill gases is carried out. Four different process concepts are defined and analyzed. The analysis yields levelized cost of methanol estimates between €1130 and €1419 t−1. Sensitivity analyses identify hydrogen production as the largest contributor to cost.
