Navigating an STI diagnosis: The role of social support, intergenerational learning, and transformative growth among Black women

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Black women face a myriad of challenges that heighten their susceptibility to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), resulting in a disproportionate impact of STIs among this population. Yet, there is a lack of research that explores how women navigate these diagnoses with resilience.

Individualized Atrophy‐Based Prediction of Dementia Progression in Familial Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration With Bayesian Linear Mixed‐Effects Modeling

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Age of symptom onset is highly variable in familial frontotemporal lobar degeneration (f‐FTLD). Accurate prediction of onset would inform clinical management and trial enrollment. Prior studies indicate that individualized maps of brain atrophy can predict conversion to dementia in f‐FTLD.

Cash flow disaggregation and prediction of cash flow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Accounting Research, 2017
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the incremental information content of estimates of cash flow components in predicting future cash flows. Design/methodology/approach The authors examine whether the models incorporating components of operating cash flow from income statements and balance sheets using the direct method are ...

Community building through play: Development and design of a board game for review in an undergraduate anatomy course

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Engaging students and fostering interactions can be a challenge in large enrollment, foundational‐level, undergraduate anatomy classes. Despite the active learning environment of the anatomy laboratory, students often struggle to find study partners or even speak to fellow learners in a large classroom.

Generalized Cash Flow Taxation [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2001
Abstract We show the unique form that must be taken by a tax system based entirely on realization accounting to implement a uniform capital income tax, or, equivalently, a uniform wealth tax. This system combines elements of an accrual based capital income tax and a traditional cash-flow tax, having many of the attributes of the latter while still ...

Sustainable and cost‐effective process design for energy‐self‐sufficient ethyl lactate production from sugar mill feedstocks: a techno‐economic approach

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Bio‐based ethyl lactate (EL) can replace several fossil‐derived products owing to its low toxicity, high solvent functionality, and environmental advantages. This study assesses the techno‐economic viability and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction potential of producing EL from sugarcane A‐molasses and lignocelluloses in an energy self‐sufficient ...

Process development priorities for scaling up direct microbial conversion of sugars into value‐added biochemicals

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract The study identified process development priorities toward the feasible production of five value‐added biochemicals in a sugarcane biorefinery based on achievable bioconversion performances. Multiple process scenarios using A‐molasses as feedstock were simulated in Aspen Plus® via direct microbial conversions.
